Pro-DNA : 7/10

Web Site: www.pro-adn.com
The laboratory is also known under the names of DNA PRO and DNA Pro-Orchid

Rating: 7/10

Company Location: Canada, the official company name is Gamma-Dynacare

Products offered: paternity or family relationship analysis (STR, Y-STR, mtDNA), test for immigration to Canada and legal tests used in court. The claim to perform forensic DNA testing for local police.

Features: the laboratory has expertise in the analysis of degraded DNA samples or samples with insufficient DNA (hair follicle without roots for the analysis of mtDNA) or most difficult samples (saliva on stamps or envelopes).

Accreditations: by the Standards Council of Canada under ISO 17025 and CAN-P-1578 (FLS). The laboratory publishes his letters of accreditation.

Price in Canadian dollars. All-inclusive prices are equivalent to $249 for a paternity test, $325 for the brotherhood testing, grandparents or avuncular. It takes the foreign exchange fee and foreign payment fees that may be charged by your bank on your credit card.

Payment: Online payment by Visa and Mastercard credit cards.

Secure payment by credit card? Yes

Maternal sample: Included in the paternity analysis of prices.

Consent: The laboratory does not perform a paternity test without the consent of participants (unless deceased) and request the signature of the parent for children under 18.

Lead-time results: 5 to 7 business days for standard paternity test, 10 days for forensic samples (it’s longer than average) and 30 days for mtDNA (normal time).

Ability to send discrete samples, yes, but the lab shows clearly that it will be unable to perform the test without the agreement of the participants. So discrete samples can only be used for missing or deceased persons.

Is the information easy to find on the site: yes, the site is very clear and easy to navigate.

Does the laboratory seem reliable to me: the lab shows the accreditation certificates by the Standards Council of Canada. We checked this accreditation on the website of the accreditation body. The lab looks at the forefront of the analysis of samples complicated forensic or degraded.

I have some small doubts on the overall delay before receiving the test results, the laboratory works fast enough, but it takes postal delays of 5-6 days for receival of the kit and probably as much again for the sending samples back to the lab.

customer service reactivity test: The service responded quickly to my questions by email. It provides a copy of the collection kit by courier Fedex guy at my expense and asked me to communicate my credit card number for payment of the supplement directly from the courier. I did not, not being comfortable with the idea of making a payment by credit card in this way, without knowing either the amount or the provider in advance.

CONCLUSION:

Paternitytestinglabs.com recommends this laboratory for more complex analyzes, including those to be made from discrete samples. For testing with a standard oral sample, we choose rather a laboratory in the US to save time and buy a cheaper test.

Why a DNA Test?

- To reassure you about the origin of a loved one: child, parent, grandparent.
- You suspect a baby exchange or error during a medically assisted procreation.
- To get rid of doubt before initiating legal proceedings for paternity, to obtain rights of custody, etc.

Oral or Blood?

DNA is the same in every cell of our body. A laboratory can collect DNA from various samples like blood drops, hairs and skin tissue.

A mouth swab is the easiest and cheapest way to get DNA samples from a person, especially when it involves small children.

A DNA Test at Home?

A mouth swab is enough to do a DNA test (except for prenatal paternity testing). This procedure can be done without stress for both adults and infants.
Samples are taken at home, painless, using a sterile cotton swab that is rubbed in the mouth against the inside of the cheek.
Recovering a little saliva and a few cells is enough for the DNA test. Click for more information.
