How much does a paternity test cost?
The lowest paternity test price: $119. This depends however on the type of test needed and the number of participants.
Thanks to the internet, it is now possible to quickly compare prices and guarantees offered by the stores or their authorized dealers. Why not do that same price comparison for DNA paternity testing? Many laboratories have been able to acquire DNA technology and control the testing procedures to obtain the necessary certifications. However, online there are many re-sellers and agents trying to sell you paternity tests. It is often difficult to find the name of the laboratory that will perform your actual paternity test. It’s even more difficult to ensure that you bought a DNA test for the best price.
Advertised prices do not always include the actual DNA test
The most common trap in the DNA testing is advertisements with a too low price (“buy now at $79”). This sounds great, but look at how many participants are included at a price of $79. Is it a price per person? If it concerns paternity test: does the price include the testing of child’s sample? Do you have to add another $79 for the sample of the father? Read before you buy!
Also note that the retail kits you can buy at most drugstores do NOT include the actual DNA test!
Paternity test price comparison
For those who don’t have time to dig through these offers, we created comparative study of the prices currently charged by laboratories. To determine the total cost of your test, it will consider price analysis for each participant as well as any additional costs: price of the kit or shipment of the kit, shipment options of the results and the costs of additional participants but whose participation is essential for some DNA tests to be conclusive and any surcharges for certain types of non-standard samples. Even though we try to update this comparison as much as possible, it is not updated in real time, so you might see some differences when actually ordering a test. If you do, please let us know and we’ll update our page as soon as we can.

Please note: The lowest prices are marked in bold. We only offer a better result by laboratory when they have several websites in order to avoid repetition and only offer links to the best results. “n/a” means that the test is not offered on the website of the laboratory. The test may be available on request from the customer service.
Prices may vary depending on participants
It is crucial to know the number of participants required for a paternity test. Indeed, when the father is no longer available to perform the paternity test, you need to call your brother or distant relatives: grandparents, uncles, aunts … it works too, but the parent is away,so the lower the accuracy of the test result. We strongly advise you to check our “what DNA test do I need” page to determine the minimum number of participants required for your test, depending on your family situation, in order to be sure the test results are conclusive. Otherwise, you’ll just throw your money away by performing the test with an insufficient number of participants.
Don’t get scammed
Don’t forget that price is only one factor to consider: the others are the competence and reputation of the laboratory and obtained accreditation. It is not possible to share the competence of laboratories as objectively as their prices. We show here the prices charged by recognized laboratories performing the tests themselves. We left outside the scope of this study paternity testing dealers who do not unveiled information about the location of their labs and whose prices are generally higher because the customer must also pay the dealer and the websites that are on our blacklist of laboratories to avoid.
